Happy Mother’s Day and moving into our new place

I went to visit my parents in France this week-end and my mom made me the best picnic ever for the trip back to London : duck confit & foie gras pie, with a fresh tomato salad drizzled with balsamic vinegar. I always loved how she would always prepare a healthy lunch for long family trips rather than stop at the petrol station for a sandwich.

And I am lucky I still get the same treatment now! Everyone at the airport eating an overpriced sandwich that tastes like plastic was so jealous.

I had to shorten the trip to France and go back to London a bit earlier than planned because we are in the process of moving into our first very own place and the move is proving a bit more complicated than I expected. Nothing wrong with the flat, I just had not realised there was a bit more into moving in than pack a few luggages, unpack and live happily ever after. Little did I know!

As you can see on the below there is still a lot to do! Our place is actually so cluttered that it is difficult to cook anything decent.

We are also busy trying to get as much as possible done in the few days I have off work. So we have been surviving on cheddar & arugola sandwiches and apples for 2 days now. And the menu is unlikely to change for the foreseeable future. Not as fancy as a duck confit pie, but I also try to keep it home made and healthy.

So a short post this week but I still wanted to share how things are here and wish my mom a wonderful Mother’s Day (it was on Sunday in France) because she is the best!
