Christmas cookies, the perfect giveaway

Xmascupcake_WEB Remember the last cupcake workshop? Well you might not, but the girls and I certainly do! It was such a nice way to spend a rainy sunday afternoon. Of course, Christmas was the perfect occasion to repeat the experience, this time with Christmas cookies.

The week-end before the workshop, I went window shopping..and could not resist buying cute cookie cutters for the occasion: gingerbreadman, bells, mistletoe, snowman, you name it! I know it seems ridiculous, but I believe christmas cookies taste better when they have the right shape. Please don’t judge..

Chez Oma – Brunch at Granny’s

Oma2
This cosy  little tea room opened 6 months ago behind the market at Parvis de Saint-Gilles, and a bare 10 minutes walk from my apartment. I had decided to go for a cosy brunch with my sister this Saturday and it seemed the perfect occasion to try it. Even before entering I was already loving it: opened my eyes shortly after 11AM, dressed in 10 minutes and was in front of Chez Oma at 11.30AM. Yeay!

The place is charmingly dowdy: flowery wall paper, porcelain cups and plates, black and white picture and menu written on a slate hanging on the wall. A real doll house!

Chocolate Raspberry Panna Cotta

Pannacotta Choco Framboise 7 LR

As much as I love hot chocolate, I try to keep it for week-ends, when I really enjoy my time at the breakfast table. I had made some homemade hot chocolate last week-end and I was afraid it would go bad if I waited until the next, so I transformed it into a nice dessert. Therefore, today’s recipe  is actually a bit of recycling from my Spicy Hot Chocolate: a little trick to make something new out of something you already have!

Ars Vinorum – an Italien hidden jewel

Ars Vinorum - Rue de la Reinette, 6 - 1000 Bruxelles

Ars Vinorum – Rue de la Reinette, 6 – 1000 Bruxelles
Picture from website http://www.ars-vinorum.com

This charming Italian trattoria has nothing to do with your basic pizza place! I cannot believe I have been in Brussels more than 2 years and just discover it now. In my favour, Ars Vinorum is well hidden between Place Royale and Porte de Namur in Brussels. The place is small, but cosy, and you feel transported into an italian wine cave. The ideal place for a romantic night out!

Spicy hot chocolate

spicy hot chocolate
Because I cannot resist good food, and I have a sweet tooth, people often think I am a big chocolate lover. Don’t be mistaken, it is not the case. I would have a much harder time resisting a hot apple pie than a chocolate cake. But, just as Johnny Depp in “Le Chocolat”, there is one thing I cannot resist: a warm, rich, hot chocolate!
